Data Send dialog

Q&A can query or send data from Microsoft® Office Excel only to SunSystems.

Product and Definition

You can specify the data send definition by clicking the Definition tab and selecting a definition.

You use the field mapping section to map fields from your worksheet, to the product database. Field mapping depends on the type of definition you are using:

  • Basic Definition: Map fields from the product database to the appropriate field in your source Excel worksheet. Map the Driver Code field to the mandatory Key field in the product database.
  • Layout Definition: You must specify a cell reference to identify the Layout Identifier in the source Excel worksheet. Map any other fields from the product database to your worksheet. Map the Layout Identifier to the mandatory Key field in the product database.
  • Matrix Definition: Map the Matrix Replicator Indicator to a range of values in your source Excel worksheet. Map any other fields from the product database to your worksheet. Map the Driver Code field to the mandatory Key field in the product database.

Other options:

  • Error Cell: Specify a cell in your worksheet to display any errors.
  • Comment Cell: Specify a cell in your worksheet to display any comments.
  • Matrix Send: Select Matrix Send to indicate that the type of data send is a matrix.
  • Skip Blanks: Select Skip Blanks to ignore blank cells in the driver code, or the layout identifier column. Otherwise, the data send will stop if a blank cell exists in the driver code or layout identifier.

The Options tab provides options for saving the data send definition, and actions for the data send process:

  • Save Definition As: Save your Data Send definition as an Internal, or External definition. External definition files are saved with a .lsd extension.
  • Abort on error: Prevent erroneous data from being posted.
  • Show Message: After the Data Send has successfully completed, show a confirmation message.
  • Send to SunSystems: Post the data from your worksheet to SunSystems.
