Initiating a needs analysis run
- Select Asset Management > Advanced Asset Management > Asset Analysis.
- Click Initiate Needs Analysis.
- Specify this information:
- Analysis Period (Years)
- Specify the number of years you want to cover in the analysis run.
- Primary Model
- Specify the name of the primary decision model that you want to use for the analysis run.
- Secondary Model
- Optionally, specify a secondary decision model for the analysis run. The secondary model is used to conduct a second needs analysis based on the results from the primary model.
- Description
- Enter a description of the analysis run.
- Asset Groups
-
Add one or more asset groups for the analysis to the grid.
Note: If the asset groups that you select include any linear assets, such as roadways:
- You can enter dynamic segmentation rules for linear assets.
See Dynamic segmentation.
- Because inspections for linear assets such as roadways are preformed on sections of the asset, you might not have inspection data for the asset's entire length.
Asset needs analysis should only be performed on assets with complete inspection data, but you might want to allow an analysis for a linear asset with slightly less than 100% inspection coverage. You can use the Index Coverage Threshold Percentage attribute in the AssetManagement configuration to specify the percentage of the full length that is required.
The value of this attribute should be set to something close to 100% to ensure that inspection data is available for enough of the asset's length to perform a meaningful analysis. If inspection data has been recorded for less than the specified percentage, the needs analysis run will return an error.
- You can enter dynamic segmentation rules for linear assets.
- Click Next and select the check boxes for the information that you want to include in the analysis log.
- To start the analysis run, click Begin Analysis.
Operations and Regulations completes the analysis run and opens the Needs Analysis InfoViewer.
