Data models

Use the Data Model Setup page to create data models that bring together related business data and make the results available through data views or REST API endpoints.

Data models are an improvement on ad hoc reports, since they provide more flexibility and control over the records that are returned. With data models, the definition of a data model by an administrator is separated from the user's view of the data. Users can quickly create data views without any knowledge of the Operations and Regulations database or object model.

Note: To use data models, the Data Models and Views feature toggle must be enabled.

When you create a data model, you define the main parts of the query and how the results are presented:

Data sources: The base business object and any linked business objects that provide the data.
Output fields: The columns that appear in the results, including formatting, sorting, and mapping to database fields.
Filters: Criteria that limit the results to selected records.
Calculations: Computed or aggregated values that are included in the output.

Data model security

Access to Data Model Setup is controlled by Infor OS security roles, not access control in Operations and Regulations. To have access to the Data Model Setup page, you must be assigned the IPS-AdvancedConfigurator role.
