Routing

Infor Operations and Regulations and Infor Operations and Regulations Mobile include routing functionality to help employees manage their work assignments more efficiently. A route specifies a day's assignments, such as a list of service requests or work orders, and the order in which they are to be completed. The same routes can be displayed in both Infor Operations and Regulations and the mobile app.

Routes are created by a Routing task in the Batch Manager. The task is typically run every night, and creates routes for all employees for the next day's work. The task can also optimize routes, organizing the day's assignments so they can be completed in the most efficient manner. See "Batch Processing" in the Infor Operations and Regulations User and Administration Library for more information.

To view their routes in the mobile app, workers can use the routed Today's Work queries. For routed queries, the mobile app shows a sequence number for each record in the query results. The sequence numbers indicate the order in which work assignments are to be completed. In the map view, the sequence numbers are also displayed on the map markers.

If an employee's starting and ending locations are specified in the Employee InfoViewer, then the route starts and ends at those locations. Otherwise, the default locations specified in the MapApplications configuration are used.

Note: Any records that are not processed by the Routing task are not displayed as routed in the app. For example, an inspection might have been reassigned, or the user might create a new inspection in the mobile app. Such records are not numbered, and are displayed at the bottom of the list, under the numbered records.

To configure routing the most important step is to set up one or more Routing tasks in the Batch Manager. You must also configure routing in the MapApplications configuration in the Configuration Editor for the Infor Operations and Regulations site. See "GIS" in the Infor Operations and Regulations User and Administration Library for more information.

The Today's Work queries are available out of the box, so users can select them from the menu without any additional configuration.

If you look at the Today's Work queries in the Configuration Editor, you will see that the IsRouteQuery attribute is set to True. If you want to create your own routed queries, ensure that this attribute is set to True.
