Creating the dataset

  1. In ArcCatalog, select Database Connections > Add Database Connection and specify the database information.
  2. Right-click the database connection and select New > Feature Dataset.
  3. Specify a name for the dataset and click Next.
  4. Specify the coordinate system for the dataset and click Search.
    The coordinate system must match the spatial reference specified for the dataset in the MapDrawerDatasets configuration.
  5. Select the projected coordinate system and click Next.
  6. Click Next.
  7. Click Finish.
  8. Right-click the dataset and select Import > Feature Class.
  9. Select the .shp files to import and click OK.
  10. Right-click the dataset and select Manage > Register as Versioned. Do not select the Register the selected objects with the option to move edits to base check box.
  11. Click OK.
  12. Right-click the dataset and select Manage > Add Global IDs.
  13. Click Yes.
