Editing address field mappings

Although mapping fields for most features is optional and involves non-required fields, mapping address fields is required to link address points to their corresponding records in Operations and Regulations.

This is because addresses, unlike other types of records, are defined by multiple fields, such as street, number, state, zip code, and so on. Field mapping gives you the flexibility to name each field in your GIS attribute table according to your agency’s naming conventions instead of using Infor’s field names.

  1. Click Preferences on the GeoAdministrator tab.
  2. On the Field Updates tab, click Required Address Fields.
  3. In the Required Address Fields dialog box, select the check boxes for all of the fields that your agency requires for each address type.
You can set required fields for four different types of address records: standard addresses, blocks, intersections, and range addresses.
  4. Click OK.
  5. On the Field Updates tab, click Address Field Mappings.
  6. Select the map layer that contains address data from the GIS Address Layer list.
  7. Click Next.
The O&R Address Mapping window opens.
  8. Select the GIS attribute that corresponds to each Operations and Regulations address field.
Each of the lists under Address, Range, and Block/Intersection represents an address field in the Operations and Regulations database. For each field that you want to map, select the GIS attribute field that corresponds to the Operations and Regulations field.
  9. Click OK.
If no errors were found, GeoAdministrator shows a message saying that it created the address mapping file successfully.
