ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap

This GeoAdministrator add-in for ArcGIS Pro supersedes the existing ArcMap plug-in.

ESRI is retiring ArcMap in March of 2026, and recommends that their customers move to ArcGIS Pro. The ArcGIS Pro GeoAdministrator add-in was developed in response to this deprecation.

Existing customers using the ArcMap plug-in can exchange it for the new ArcGIS Pro add-in.

While GeoAdministrator for ArcGIS Pro retains the functionality of the original, there are several notable differences in the user experience. These include:

  • The GeoAdministrator toolbar in ArcMap is superseded by a redesigned tab in the ArcGIS Pro ribbon.
  • The "Create" options that were previously located under the Editor toolbar dropdown in ArcMap have been relocated to the Create Features pane in ArcGIS Pro.
  • And the introduction of validations around setups, selections, and data inputs to prevent irrelevant combinations or actions.

There are also some user experience changes for BQS. Although data source selection remains available, the steps for selecting a file geodatabase, SDE connection, and shapefile, have been slightly adjusted to align with ArcGIS Pro conventions. Additionally, the Infor PS transfer value has been renamed to O and R.
