Creating point assets

A point asset is an asset that does not cover a large area and therefore can be thought of as a single point on your map. Examples include hydrants, sewer manholes, water valves, trees, and so on. You can use GeoAdministrator to create a point asset feature and its corresponding Infor Operations and Regulations record in a single process.

  1. Start an ArcMap edit session.
  2. Select Infor PS Create Point Asset from the Task list in the Editor toolbar.
  3. From the Target list, select the map layer in which you want to create your asset.
  4. Click the Sketch Tool button in the Editor toolbar.
  5. Click one or more points on the map where you want to place the new assets. When finished, either double-click the last point or right-click and select Finish Sketch.
  6. In the Validate New Point Assets dialog box, select the type of asset that you are creating from the Asset Type list.
  7. For each asset, type the asset ID in the Unit ID field and click Next. When you reach the last asset, click OK.
GeoAdministrator creates a point feature in the geodatabase and a corresponding asset record in the Infor Operations and Regulations database. The COMPKEY, COMPTYPE, and UNITID values are copied from the Infor Operations and Regulations database to the GIS attribute table. GeoAdministrator then shows the new asset record in the Infor PS Viewer.
  8. If you want to add further information to the new asset record, click the Edit button in the InfoViewer toolbar. Most of the standard Infor Operations and Regulations interface tools, such as popups, calendars and calculators, are available through GeoAdministrator.
