Standard work orders

A standard work order is a template that you can use to create work orders with key information already filled in.

For example, if work orders assigned to a particular employee will always have the same source, maintenance type, and problem codes, you can use a standard work order to store that information.

Using standard work orders can save you time if you frequently create work orders with the same information. For example, if work orders assigned to a particular employee will always have the same source, maintenance type, and problem codes, you can use a standard work order to store that information. You can also include information from agency detail pages.

When you create a work order you can enter the name of a standard work order along with the activity code, and Infor Public Sector will add the standard information to the new work order.

If you specify a standard work order when creating a group project, the values from the standard work order will be copied to each work order that is created for the group project, unless you specify other values in the Create Group Project form. The values that you explicitly specify for the group project will override the values in the standard work order.

You can also associate standard work orders with other processes that generate work orders, such as service request types and maintenance schedules. For example, if you enter a standard work order for a maintenance schedule, all work orders generated under the schedule will be based on that standard.

You can associate each standard work order with one or more activity codes. If you enter activity codes for a standard work order, it will only be available when you create work orders for those activities. If a standard work order doesn't have any activity codes, it will be available for all activity types. You can also define a default standard work order for each activity in Activity Workflow.

You can create standard work order in three ways:

  • You can use the Create Standard Work Order page.
  • You can copy an existing standard work order in the Standard Work Order InfoViewer.
  • You can create a standard work order based on a work order in the Work Order InfoViewer.
