Calendar event durations

When you schedule an assignment in the calendar, the duration for which the event is scheduled is set automatically. This duration can be set in different ways depending on the type of event.

In the CalendarManagement configuration, you can specify a default duration for each type of event under the EVENTS node, such as two hours for an inspection. You can also specify a default duration for all events on the root Calendar Management node.

The default duration is used for an event if no other duration is specified. How the duration is specified varies based on the type of event.

  • Asset inspections: Always use the default values from the CalendarManagement configuration.
Note: The duration of asset inspection assignments cannot be changed from the calendar, because asset inspections don't have a scheduled to date field. The start date is recorded in the Scheduled Date field but the end date is not recorded.
  • Work orders: Always use the default values from the CalendarManagement configuration.

The start and end dates of the duration are recorded in the Scheduled Start and Scheduled Finish fields in the Work Order InfoViewer.

  • Service requests: Use the Inspection Duration fields in the Request Type dialog box for the service request type. Otherwise use the default values from the CalendarManagement configuration.
Note: Assignment duration cannot be changed from the calendar, because service requests don't have a scheduled to date field. The start date is recorded in the Scheduled field but the end date is not recorded.
  • CDR reviews: Use the estimated hours and minutes for the review type in Application Workflow. If not specified, use the default values from the CalendarManagement configuration.

The start and end dates of the duration are recorded in the Scheduled Date and Estimated Completion Date fields in the Review InfoViewer.

  • CDR inspections: Use the estimated hours and minutes for the inspection type in Application Workflow. If not specified, use the default values from the CalendarManagement configuration.

The start and end dates of the duration are recorded in the Scheduled Date and Estimated Completion Date fields in the Inspection InfoViewer.
