Capture End Point Information tool
Use the Capture End Point Information tool to identify assets, such as sewer manholes, that serve as the endpoints of a network asset such as a sewer main. When using the tool, you provide a tolerance radius to search for all available point assets within the defined point asset layer. After the desired assets are identified, you can perform two different actions to help synchronize the endpoint data:
- The first action, “Attach to endpoint of selected,” moves the actual location of the GIS features that are identified as endpoints to the GIS locations of the endpoints of the network asset.
- The second action, “Populate Selected” or “Populate all,” takes the endpoint assets that are identified in the UNITID1 and UNITID2 columns and populates the MainComp1, UnitID, MainComp2, and UnitID2 fields of each network asset that is in scope.
The Capture End Point Information tool is designed for situations where the two endpoints of a network asset are off their marks for where the network asset currently exists on the map. The tool can be used to move these points to their rightful locations as the endpoints of the network asset.
First select the network assets to process, then click the Capture Endpoint of Selected Network Assets.

, GeoAdministrator shows a dialog box that indicates the possible endpoints of the selected network asset, based on the search tolerance. The possible endpoints are displayed in theIf more than one possible endpoint is found within the search tolerance, you can select the correct asset from a list by clicking the header of the UnitID1 or UnitID2 column.
Then click Attached column to indicate that the operation was successful.
