Associating Operations and Regulations records

In addition to creating new records in Operations and Regulations, you can use GeoAdministrator to associate existing records. For example, you can associate assets with addresses.

  1. Select one or more map features that are linked to records in the Operations and Regulations database, such as addresses or parcels.
These are the parent records that the other records will be linked to.
  2. Click Tools on the GeoAdministrator tab and select Associate Inventory.
The Associating Options dialog box opens.
  3. Under Layers to Search and Select, select each layer that contains features that you want to associate with the parent features that you selected.
  4. If you want to enter search criteria, use the Search Method and Buffer (Feet) columns in the lower grid.
You can search for features to associate within a set distance of the parents, or you can select them from the map. You can enter different criteria for each selected parent. GeoAdministrator will search for features within the specified distance of the parents.
  5. Click Search.
The Associating O&R Object dialog box opens, and shows a node for each parent record that you selected. Child nodes under each parent represent the records that match your search criteria. If you entered no search criteria, the dialog box only shows the parent nodes, with no children.
  6. To add features to your selection, click a parent node in the list and then click each feature in the map that you want to associate with the selected parent.
  7. To remove a feature from the list, right-click the feature and select Remove feature. Select multiple features to remove them all at once.
  8. When you’ve selected the features that you want to associate, click Associate.
