Migration from ArcMap

Installation

Use the Infor Operations and Regulations Installer to install the ArcGIS Pro add-in. Select the GeoAdministrator for ArcGIS Pro option.

Install the add-in in a different directory than the ArcMap plug-in. This preserves your existing instance and retains a few helpful files that will simplify your initial setup for the add-in.

Update field mapping catalogs

ArcGIS Pro uses data types with slightly different properties than ArcMap, which can cause errors in the ArcGIS Pro add-in if existing field mappings aren’t updated.

While you could create a new catalog from scratch, we recommend that you make a copy of your existing catalog in the new add-in using the copy function in the Field Mapping Catalog dialog box. After copying, open and save each field mapping in the new catalog. This triggers an automatic update that resolves the issues. Repeat this process for each catalog that you plan to use in the new add-in. This step is only required during the initial installation.

Update BQS batches

In BQS, differences with ArcGIS Pro’s developer tools, along with new naming conventions for batch type values, mean that any batch processes you intend to continue using must be recreated. The setup process remains largely the same, with two key differences. First, the method for selecting a GIS data source, which was already covered in a previous slide. And second, Infor P S, which referred to the Infor side of a transfer, is now called O and R. This step is only required during the initial installation and only if you are using BQS.

Use BQSConfigurationManager.exe to recreate your batches

Create SDE connection for BQS

If you were using SDE connections for BQS in the old plug-in, you'll need to re-create those connections for use with the new add-in. Do this by first setting up the connection in ArcGIS Pro. Then, use the Copy Path function to note the location of the connection file. From there, use that path inside the BQS connection setup to find and select the connection file. This step is only required during the initial installation and only if you are using BQS.

In ArcGIS Pro:

  1. In the Catalog panel, right-click the Databases node and select New Databases Connection.
  2. Create an SDE connection if it does not already exist.
  3. Under the Databases node, right-click the SDE connection record and select Copy Path, then paste it in a text file to view the path.

In BQS:

  1. In the Create New Configuration form, click Select File to use the SDE connection.
  2. In the Select GIS Data Source window, use the path that you copied to locate the file and click Open.

After a few seconds, the Select a Feature Class form is displayed.

  3. Select the feature class that you want to use and click OK.
