GIS synchronization and GeoAdministrator
The GIS synchronization tools in Operations and Regulations offer some of the same functionality as GeoAdministrator, but there are also some important differences.
GeoAdministrator is designed for GIS coordinators who need to perform real-time interactive edits and data synchronizations. This tool is ideal for scenarios where immediate results are required.
In contrast, GIS synchronization caters to GIS coordinators and system administrators who prefer batch synchronizations, migrations, or reconciliations. Batch processes can run on a scheduled basis, such as nightly or weekly.
| Tool | Typical personas | Primary use case | When it’s used |
|---|---|---|---|
| GeoAdministrator | GIS Coordinator | Real-time, interactive editing and QA/QC | For daily operations requiring immediate updates. |
| GIS Sync | GIS Coordinator, System Administrator | Scheduled batch synchronization | For planned, recurring synchronizations, data migrations, or reconciliations. |
