Adding an element type to a linear asset type

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > [asset module].
  2. On the tab for the correct linear asset type, under Configuration, click "Asset" Setup.
  3. In the Linear Types tree, browse to the Elements node under the correct asset type.
  4. Right-click the Elements node and select Create Element Type.
  5. Specify this information:
    Element Code
    Specify an identification code for the element type.
    Value Required
    Select this check box if you want a value to be required when users add this type of element.
    Attachment Method
    Select the option that indicates how elements of this type are attached to linear assets. You can select Point, Range, or Point or Range.
    Right-Of-Way Positioning
    Select No, Available, or Required. If you select No, you cannot enter a right-of-way position when you attach an element of this type. If you select Available, entering a right-of-way position is optional. If you Required, you must enter a right-of-way position.
    Detail Page
    You can use this field to define a detail page for the element type. See "Agency Personalization" in the Infor Operations and Regulations User and Administration Library for more information about detail pages.
    Validation
    Enter the database table that will be used to validate the values entered for this element.
  6. Click Save.
