Adding a drop-down box

To add a drop-down box whose value is supplied by an enumeration, you must specify the enumeration that you want to use. You can select an existing enumeration, or you can create a new one.

The order in which the enumeration values are shown in the drop-down box, and the default value, are set in the Enumerations configuration.

  1. In the Page Editor, click Edit and select Data Builder.
    Note: The Data Builder is only available if you're editing a detail page, not a standard page in the Content Manager.
  2. Click Add above the grid.
  3. Specify this information:
    Screen Name
    Specify a name for your code definition field.
    Data Type
    Select Enumeration.
  4. Specify the enumeration that you want to use.
    1. Select the Additional Properties column in the grid and open the popup.
    2. Select Use Existing Enumeration or Create New Enumeration.
    3. If you're using an existing enumeration, select the enumeration in the Enumeration Collections tree and click Select.
    4. If you're creating a new enumeration, specify the name and common ID, then specify the enumeration values in the grid. Alternatively, select the Create Y/N (boolean) field check box for a boolean enumeration. Then click Save.
  5. Ensure that the Automatically Assign Control select box is selected.
    This will automatically create a drop-down box for the enumeration.
  6. Click Save.
