Duplicating an asset

If you want to create an asset that shares information with an existing asset, you can duplicate the existing asset. For example, you might want to create several equipment records for units of the same type that are stored in the same location. Each duplicated record initially contains all of the original asset’s information except its ID. You can make changes to the duplicated assets as required.

If the asset that you are duplicating is assigned to a position at an address, the asset location information that is defined for that position can be copied to the new asset.

  1. Load the asset record you want into the appropriate asset InfoViewer.
  2. Click Action and select Duplicate Asset.
    The Create Asset form is displayed showing the same address and location information.
  3. Create the new asset record, making any necessary changes to the existing information.
