Asset type renaming limitations

The display name that you specify when you rename an asset type is shown in the user interface only. The name of the asset type in the database is not changed. Because the name is not changed in the database, there are some instances where the agency-defined asset name is not shown in the UI.

Grid filter function

If you rename an asset type, the agency-defined name is shown in any grid that includes an Asset Type column, but filtering on the agency-defined name is not supported. The filter field at the top of the Asset Type column in the grid filters asset types based on the value in the database, so agency-defined asset names are not recognized in this context.

Content Manager changes

Asset type renaming is not supported when you add columns to grids in the Content Manager. For example, if you use the Content Manager to add an Asset Type column to the results grid in Lookup Service Requests, the renaming is not supported in that change.

Asset type renaming is supported when you add other types of page controls in the Content Manager, such as edit boxes. To show the agency-defined asset type name, set the value of the control's LabelText property to {0}.
