Setting up activity cost estimates

When defining activities, you can specify information that Infor Public Sector will use to estimate costs for your work orders.

First, an activity's standard work unit provides a baseline for cost calculations. You can specify this value in the Standard Work Unit field when creating or editing an activity. You can specify the unit of measure in the Base Unit field. For example, the standard work unit for an activity might be 10 square feet.

To estimate the overall cost of an activity, you can specify a value in the Activity Cost field. The activity cost is per standard work unit, so if an activity with a standard work unit of 10 square feet has an activity cost of $250, this means the estimated cost of a work order will be $250 for every 10 square feet planned. If a work order for this activity has a planned quantity of 100 square feet, the estimated cost will be $2500.

The planned quantity for each work order defaults to the value specified in the Average Production / WO field. Whether you can edit a work order's planned quantity depends on the setting you select for the activity's Planned Quantity constraint. If the Planned Quantity field isn't present, or is display-only, Infor Public Sector will always use the average production per work order.

The activity cost provides a default cost estimate if a work order doesn't have any tasks. If a work order does have tasks, Infor Public Sector will ignore the activity cost and estimate the work order's cost based on the standard resources defined for the tasks.
