Localizing resource files

The Infor Public Sector resource files contain strings that are used to show messages to the user, such as indicating that no records were found in a search or that required information is missing when the user tries to save a record.

The main purpose of the resource files is to store all message strings in a single place so that they can easily be modified if necessary. Modifying or translating the strings in the resource files is an important part of the process of localizing Infor Public Sector for a particular language and region. The US and Australian resource files, for example, will have minor differences to account for the differences between US and Australian English. The resource files for a non-English speaking region must be translated.

To facilitate the process of modifying resource files, Infor includes the source files they’re based on with each distribution of Infor Public Sector. The source files, which have a .resx extension, can be found in the ApplicationFiles\ResX directory in the Infor Public Sector download. Also included in the download, in the ApplicationFiles\Hansen8 directory, is a set of batch files that you can use to convert your modified .resx files into .Resources files. This document explains how to use these tools to update the resource files in your build of Infor Public Sector.
