Reading review

After a cycle's meter readings are imported into Infor Public Sector, you can review them for problems, such as readings that are abnormally high or abnormally low.

Infor Public Sector uses a Batch Manager task called Water Meter Reading Review Run to review the readings for a selected cycle. This task compares the meter readings for the cycle to prior readings, using one of several different comparison methods. Each reading is marked as approved, acceptable, or an exception following the rules defined in Reading Review Setup.

Review Meter Readings is the form that you use to review the results. You can schedule review runs in the Batch Manager and then look up the results, or you can initiate a reading review run manually from the Review Meter Readings page.

Review Meter Readings shows the cycle's readings on three tabs, according to rules that you define in Reading Review Setup.

  • The Approved tab shows readings that are approved and ready for billing.
  • The Acceptable tab shows readings that require manual approval, such as readings that are slightly higher or lower than expected.
  • The Exceptions tab shows meters that require particular attention, using color coding to indicate the type of each exception.

For example, your agency might use a yellow background for a meter that doesn't have a current reading, or a bright red background if a meter's usage is more than twice the expected value.

Readings for positions that require manual reading review are also shown on the Exceptions tab.

See Adding positions to a meter reading route.

You can take actions to address each exception, such as creating service requests for re-reads, estimating missing readings, or manually approving readings.

Finally, the Reader Codes and Problem Codes tabs show readings with reader codes and problem codes. You can create service requests or work orders for these readings as required.
