Creating a reading review setup

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > Water.
  2. On the Meter tab, under Configuration, click Reading Review Setup.
  3. In the Water Meter Types tree, right-click the Water Meter Types node and select Create Setup.
Infor Public Sector shows the reading review options in the right panel. When you first create a new setup, Infor Public Sector copies the options defined for your default setup.
  4. In the Water Meter Type field, specify the identification code for the type of meter the setup will be used for.
  5. Under Exception Types, specify the options you want to use for each exception type.
Infor Public Sector uses the text and background colors you select for each exception type to display readings with that type of exception. To change a color, click the color button and select the color you want. You can also click the Use Default Colors link to use the colors defined for your default setup.
The Process list for each exception type determines which tab readings with that exception are displayed on. For example, readings with normal usage and no other exceptions would typically be approved automatically, so you would select Approved.
The Default Action lists define default actions that users can perform in Review Meter Readings. You can select None, Estimate, or Reread. If you select either of the default actions (Estimate or Reread), the other one is automatically designated as the "other" action, and is displayed in the Other Action column in Review Meter Readings.
Finally, the Highest Usage through Lowest Usage exceptions also include percentage fields that define the ranges for each exception. These fields define the minimum value for each above-average exception, and the maximum value for each below-average exception. For example, if the High Usage is 125% and the Higher Usage is 150%, then a reading that is 130% of the one it has being compared to will fall in the High Usage range.

    See Meter reading exception types.

  6. In the Current cycle reading is within the past __ days field, specify the number of days to define the current reading.
Some of the exception types, and some of the compare options in Review Meter Readings, depend on the current reading, so you must specify how far back is considered current.
  7. In the Re-read Service Request field, specify the type of service request Infor Public Sector will create when you schedule a meter re-read.
  8. In the Cancel Re-read Resolution field, specify the resolution code Infor Public Sector will use when you cancel re-read requests.
  9. To execute a formula after readings are approved, enter the formula in the Upon Cycle Reading Approval field or the Upon Additional Reading Approval field.
Cycle readings are regular meter readings for the cycle you are reviewing. Additional readings, also known as off-cycle readings, are readings from different cycles that are included in the current analysis because they were not analyzed with their own cycles. For example, additional readings might be readings from meters that had to be reread due to exceptions. Because they weren't included in the analysis for their own cycle, you can include them in the next analysis for a different cycle.
  10. Select the Pre-select Account for Billing check box to preselect the associated billing accounts when additional readings are approved.
Because additional or off-cycle readings are analyzed after the rest of the readings for the cycles they belong to, you may want to pre-select the associated accounts so they can be billed as soon as the readings are approved.
  11. Select the Mark next incoming reading as a cycle reading if Re-read is pending check box to automatically mark cycle readings.
You might want to use this option in cases where a re-read is requested for the original cycle reading. Because Infor Public Sector has no other way to know which reading is the re-read, this option assumes that the next reading entered for a meter is the requested re-read, and should be marked as a cycle reading to replace the original reading.
  12. Click Save.
