Creating a purchase request

If there is not enough stock on hand to fulfill an issue or transfer request, you can create a purchase request to obtain the parts. A new requisition with a purchase request line item corresponding to each issue or transfer request you select is created. You can also confirm that the parts are backordered to keep the requesting employee up to date on the status of the requisition.

  1. Select Inventory > Materials Management > Materials Manager.
  2. Specify your stock area in the Stock Area field.
  3. Click the Fulfillment tab.
  4. Look up the issue and transfer requests for the parts that you are ordering.
  5. Select one or more line items in the grid, and click Create Purchase Request.
    The Bulk Requisition Transaction page is shown. A purchase request line item for each selected part is displayed in the grid at the bottom of the page.
  6. For each line item in the grid, specify the number of parts you're ordering.
    1. Enable editing in the grid and select the line item.
    2. Specify the number of parts you require in the Quantity field.
    3. Specify the date by which the parts are required in the Need Date field.
    4. Specify any other information required for the purchase request, such as vendor or manufacturer information.
    5. Click Approve.
  7. Click Save.
