Reserving parts

  1. Select Inventory > Transactions > Transaction Management.
  2. On the Reserve tab, click Create.
  3. In the first three fields, specify the part being reserved and the stock area and location where it is stored.
You can specify an identification code in each field, or load information in more than one field simultaneously using the popup accessed from the Location field or Part # field.
  4. Specify this information:
    Employee
Specify the identification code for the employee initiating the transaction.
    Date
Specify the date of the transaction.
    Quantity
Specify the number of parts to be reserved.
    Reserve Employee
Specify the identification code for the employee reserving the parts.
  5. Specify any other information about the transaction.
You can specify the work order, group project, or service request that the parts are being reserved for.
  6. Click Save.

If the quantity of parts you specified is less then or equal to the quantity available in the stock area, Infor Public Sector shows a summary of the reserve transaction and a message that the transaction was created successfully.

If the quantity reserved is greater than the quantity available, Infor Public Sector gives you the option of canceling the transaction, reserving the quantity available, or reserving the quantity specified even though it is greater than the quantity available. If you choose the third option the quantity available will be a negative number, indicating that more parts are reserved than are currently on hand in the stock area.
