Meter export and import

Meter export and import are complementary processes that are used when meter readings are recorded in an external system. The export process creates a list of meters to be read in one or more routes. After the meters are read, the meter records can be imported back into Infor Public Sector along with their readings.

The meter export and import tools are found under Meter Management on the Meter tab of the Water Asset Management page. Cycle Reading Export Setup and Cycle Reading Import Setup define the templates you want to use, and the export and import file paths and various other setup options. Just as the available templates for collections export and payment import are defined in the Billing configuration, the meter export and import templates are listed in the MeterManagement configuration in the Configuration Editor.

To initiate a meter export, use Create Meter Reading Export Schedule. The export template and directory path you define in Meter Reading Export Setup serve as defaults, so Infor Public Sector will load them when you open this form, but you can also change them for a particular export run. When you save a schedule, Infor Public Sector adds a meter export task to the Batch Manager to handle the actual data output.

Similarly, Meter Reading Import Setup defines defaults for the meter import process, which you initiate using Lookup Meter Reading Import/Export Schedules. Because a meter import typically corresponds to a previous export, you can first look up an export run and then import the exported meter routes. You can also perform a self import, meaning a set of readings are imported without a prior export.
