Fee order and surcharges

When setting up a fee type, you can define the order in which it is calculated. Infor Public Sector groups fees according to their order number and then evaluates the fees in ascending order. Fees with an order number of 0 are evaluated first, then fees with an order number of 1, and so on until Infor Public Sector has evaluated all the fees.

When you define a fee as a surcharge, Infor Public Sector uses the order number to determine which fees the surcharge is based on. If the surcharge is the only fee with that order number, then the surcharge is based on all fees with a lower order number. For example, the 5% Surcharge fee in the following table is the only fee with an order number of 4. Therefore, the surcharge is based on the sum of all the fees with an order number of less than 4.

Fee Name Order Fee Subtotal Total
Processing Fee 0 20.00 20.00 20.00
Application Fee 1 100.00 100.00 120.00
10% Surcharge 1 .10 x 100.00 10.00 130.00
Review Fee 2 100.00 100.00 230.00
Inspection Fee 3 25.00 25.00 255.00
5% Surcharge 4 .05 x 255.00 12.75 267.75

If a surcharge is one of several fees with the same order number, the surcharge is based on the sum of the fees with that order number. For example, in the previous table, both the Application Fee and the 10% Surcharge have an order number of 1. Therefore, the surcharge only applies to the Application Fee. It does not apply to the Processing Fee, which has an order number of 0.

You can also assign the same order number to multiple surcharges. If you assign the same order number to more than one surcharge and the surcharges are the only fees with that order number, Infor Public Sector bases the surcharges on the sum of all fees with a lower number. For example, the 10% Surcharge and the 20% Surcharge in the following table are the only fees with an order number of 2. Therefore, each of these surcharges apply to Fee A, the only fee with a lower order number.

Fee Name Order Fee Subtotal Total
Fee A 1 100.00 100.00 100.00
10% Surcharge 2 .10 x 100 10.00 110.00
20% Surcharge 2 .20 x 100 20 130.00
Fee B 3 100.00 100.00 230.00
Fee C 3 50.00 50.00 280.00
5% Surcharge 3 .05 x 150 7.50 287.50
3% Surcharge 3 .03 x 150 4.50 292.00

If an application has several fees with the same order number and more than one of the fees is a surcharge, then Infor Public Sector calculates the surcharge fees based on the sum of all non-surcharge fees with the same order number. For example, in the previous table, the 5% Surcharge and the 3% Surcharge have the same order number as Fee B and Fee C. Therefore, each surcharge applies to the sum of Fee B and Fee C.
