Defining an external charge

These instructions describe how to set up a basic external charge, which doesn't interact with an external database.

  1. Select Cashiering > Cashiering Setup.
  2. Expand the Charge Setups node in the Cashiering Setup tree.
  3. Right-click the Charge Setups node, or the node for an external charge group, and select Add New Charge.
  4. Specify this information:
    Charge Group
Specify the group that the charge belongs to.

    See Charge groups.

    Charge Type
Specify a name for the new charge.
    Charge Description
Provide a description of the charge.
    Charge Amount
Optionally, specify the default amount of the charge.
    ID Title
Specify a name for the charge's identification code field.

The ID title is the name of a field that is displayed with the external charge in the Cash Register. For example, if you give a parking ticket charge an ID title of Ticket #, a Ticket # field is displayed during parking ticket transactions.

    Allowed Tenders
Select the check boxes for the tenders that can be used to pay this charge.
    Charge Options
Select the check boxes for the options that you want to use.
    • If the charge is for an item sold by quantity, select the Charge By Quantity check box. When paying for the charge, you must specify the number of items. Infor Public Sector calculates the total amount by multiplying the quantity by the unit price.
    • If the charge is a payment into a contractor escrow account, select the Escrow Deposit check box.
    • If cashiers can accept partial payments of the charge, select the Partial Payment Allowed check box.
    • If the charge can handle overpayments, select the Overpayments Allowed check box. The cashier can then save extra funds from the charge as an overpayment rather than return the change to customer.
    • To add a button for the charge to the Cash Register, select the Add Charge Button on Register check box. Otherwise cashiers can add the charge by clicking the button for the charge group that the charge belongs to.
    • If customers must provide contact information when they pay the charge, select the Contact Required check box. Infor Public Sector will show a Select Payer dialog box when you click the Receipt button in the Cash Register. The cashier can use this box to look up the customer's contact record or to create a new contact record.
    • If the charge is taxable, select the Taxable check box. A Tax Rate field is displayed, which you can use to override the standard tax rate defined under General Settings.
    External Charge Interfaces
Leave these fields blank for a basic charge setup.
  5. Click Save.
