Independent sub accounts

The sub accounts of an aggregate master account can be dependent or independent, as defined in the aggregate account type.

To configure independent sub accounts, select the Independent Sub Accounts check box for the aggregate account type in the Account Type page. If you do not select this check box, then the sub accounts are dependent.

Dependent sub accounts are billed together with the master account in an aggregate bill, and aggregate payments are typically distributed among the sub accounts based on their pay order. These billing functions are not available for dependent sub accounts:

Direct debit
Budget billing
Payment arrangements
Adjustment packages
Cancel and rebill

If the sub accounts are independent, they and their transactions can be viewed from the master account, but the sub accounts are billed and paid separately. They also can be managed independently, such as by setting up direct debit or budget billing for a sub account.
