Creating a knowledge base entry

A knowledge base entry can consist of plain text, or it can provide a link to a document, image, or HTML file. Infor Public Sector uses HTTP to transfer documents and images as well as HTML files, so all file paths must be relative or absolute URLs. Documents and images must be in file formats that can be displayed in a web browser.

  1. Select Resources > Knowledge Base > Build Knowledge Base.
  2. In the Knowledge Base Groups tree, browse to the knowledge base category in which you want to add a new entry.
  3. Right-click the "Knowledge Base Category" node and select Create Knowledge Base Entry.
  4. Select the type of entry from the Type list.
If you select Document, HTML, or Image, a Location field is displayed. If you select Text, Infor Public Sector shows a comments field that you can use to type the text.
  5. In the Description field, provide a description for the knowledge base entry, including any keywords that will help identify the entry.
When others in your agency search the knowledge base, they will enter keywords in a Search for field. Infor Public Sector will locate entries whose descriptions contain those keywords.
  6. For a text entry, type the content in the comments field.
  7. For an HTML file, specify the URL in the Location field.
By default, the Knowledge Base searches for HTML files in the root Infor Public Sector application directory on the server. You can override the default by specifying an absolute URL for the resource (that is, starting with http://).
  8. For documents and image files, specify the file path in the Location field.
By default, the Knowledge Base searches for documents and images in a folder called KnowledgeBase within the root application directory.
  9. Click Save.
