Setting a reference point in the Roadway InfoViewer

In the Roadway InfoViewer you can use an attached feature as a reference point for other features. Reference points can be a great help in locating points along a roadway when using mile markers would be impractical. For example, if your agency has a work order to install a call box, it may be easier to tell the workers to install the call box one-quarter mile north of a specific culvert than to tell them to install it at distance marker 294. The reference point is displayed on the ruler as a flag icon. When you edit features, a display-only field called Reference Point indicates how far the feature is from the reference point, such as 14.5 mi N of element ‘CallBox’.

Note: A roadway can have only one reference point. If you specify a second reference point, Infor Public Sector replaces the first reference point with the new one.
  1. Load the roadway you want into the Roadway InfoViewer.
  2. In the feature diagram, right-click the point symbol Roadway point symbol or the range bar for the attached feature that you want to use as a reference point.
  3. Select Set Reference Point.
  4. Select the Start Point, Midpoint, or End Point option button to indicate where you want to set the reference point.
These options apply to range features only. If you're using a point feature for your reference point, ensure that the Start Point option button is selected.
  5. Click Select.
Infor Public Sector adds an icon to the ruler at the feature's location on the roadway.
Note: Infor Public Sector does not save the reference point when you close the Roadway InfoViewer.
