Reader codes and problem codes

When recording a meter reading, you can specify a code in the Reader Code or Problem Code field to record any irregular circumstances. For example, you might use a reader code to indicate that a meter couldn't be read, or you could use problem codes to indicate conditions that require further attention, such as meter malfunctions or tampering.

Depending on your access permissions, you can define new codes from the popup for the Reader Code field or the Problem Code field.

You can set background and text colors for each code to highlight problematic readings when you later review meter readings. You can also associate a request type and an activity with each reader code or problem code. You can then create a service request or work order for the affected meter, such as a request for a re-read or a work order to fix a malfunctioning meter.

To associate a service request type or activity with the code, select the Exception check box and specify the correct information in the Request Type field or the Work Order Activity field. Selecting Exception directs Infor Public Sector to list any readings with this code on the Exceptions tab in the Review Meter Readings form.

For reader codes, you can also indicate that a reading with a particular code should be marked as estimated, or that it should be marked as ready to bill after a specified number of hours.

Note: Infor Public Sector doesn't enforce a precise definition of a reader code or a problem code. These codes provide two different ways to record circumstances around a meter reading that may require further attention. If a code isn't marked as an exception, then it is merely informational.
