GIS synchronization setup

Setup for the GIS synchronization process mainly involves creating GIS mappings and field mappings.

GIS mappings map data at the component level, indicating which layers in the GIS correspond to selected components in Infor Public Sector.

Within each GIS mapping, field mappings map data at the field level, such as mapping the City field in Infor Public Sector address records to the CITY field in the GIS Addresses layer, and so on.

At least one field mapping within each GIS mapping must be marked as a business key. Business keys are used to match records between the two databases. For example, the parcel ID will typically be the business key for a parcel mapping. An address mapping, conversely, will usually have multiple business keys, such as StreetNumber, StreetName, and City, because these are all needed to identify a unique address.

Note: We recommend that you always create field mappings for primary keys in Infor Public Sector, such as AddressKey or AssetKey, and that you mark these as business keys. This is not required, but it will reduce the risk of creating duplicates.

In addition to mapping components and fields, you can define how and when records in either database are to be updated. For example, you can create a mapping that synchronizes data from the GIS to the Infor Public Sector database, but not in the other direction. Or you can synchronize in either direction, depending on which record has been updated most recently. You can also create formulas for more advanced processing.

The final step is to add a GIS Feature Synchronization task in the Batch Manager. See the Infor Public Sector Batch Processing Administration Guide for details.
