Creating a derived keyword

  1. Select System > Agency Personalization > Keyword Manager.
  2. Under Keywords, right-click the Derived Keywords node, or one of its category nodes, and select Add Derived Keyword.
  3. Specify this information:
    Derived Keyword Name
Specify a name for the derived keyword.
    Category
If you aren't adding the derived keyword to an existing category, specify a new category name.
    Data Type
Select the data type for the derived keyword's output.
    Base Keyword
Specify the base keyword that you're using to create the derived keyword.
Note: In some cases, you can use a common rule to create a derived keyword without a base keyword. For example, the DateTime TodaysDate( ) rule can be used to return the current date. No base keyword is required.
    For Import
Select this check box if the derived keyword is to be used for an import template.
    Rules
In the grid, specify each rule that you want to apply to create the derived keyword.

    See Rules.

To add a rule, first click Add above the grid. The Select Rule dialog box is displayed. To locate available rules, enter search criteria in the fields under Lookup Options and click Search.

The search results in the Rule Lookup Results grid include rules that match the data type of the selected keyword, or that take the base keyword as a parameter. For example, if the base keyword is KW_Hansen.Billing_Bill_BillKey, then the search results include rules that take billKey as a parameter.

When you select a rule in the Rule Lookup Results grid, the rule's parameters are displayed in the Selected Rule Parameters grid. Provide the parameter values and click Done.

  4. When you're finished adding rules, click Save.
