Creating a rate code

A rate code is a collection of rate tables with different effective dates that are used to calculate the same charge. The rate code is what you associate with a line item type in Billing or a fee type in CDR to use these rate tables. When it is time to calculate the charge, the correct rate table is selected based on their effective dates.

After you create a rate code, you can create rate tables and then define details for those tables. The rate table details define the precise rules for calculating charges.

  1. Select Billing > Setup > Billing > Rate Table.
  2. In the Rate Table Setup tree, right-click one of the root nodes or a category node and select Create Rate Code.
  3. Specify a Rate Code and Description.
  4. Click Save.
