Asset positions

Certain asset types can be assigned to specific positions at an address.

You must first define asset positions for an address in the Address InfoViewer. To define an asset position at the address, you specify the type of asset and the number of positions that are available. You can also specify additional location information that will be copied to assets assigned to positions at the address, such as an area or district.

See "Defining asset positions" in the Infor Public Sector Resources Administration Guide.

A unique position number will then be required for each asset of the specified type at the address, up to the number of available positions. For example, if you define water meter positions at an address, you must specify an available position number in the Position field when you enter that address in the Water Meter InfoViewer. Infor Public Sector checks the positions at the address, and you cannot add or update the asset if no position is available.

When you specify a position number for an asset, any additional asset location information that is defined in the address record is copied to the asset. If the asset location information from the address record does not match the location information that you have specified in the asset record, a dialog box is shown asking you to select which location information you want to use.
