Adding length to a linear asset

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > [asset module].
  2. On the tab for the correct linear asset type, under Configuration, click Add "Asset" Length Tool.
  3. Specify this information:
    "Asset"
Specify the ID of the asset to which you're adding length.
    Starting From
Specify the point, measured from the start of the asset, at which the length is to be added.
    Add Length
Specify the amount of length you're adding.
    Maintain "Asset" History
Select if you want to maintain a record of the asset structure before the change. A record is added to the TOOLHIST (LinearToolHistory) table, indicating the original starting and ending measurements of the asset, the date the length was added, and the amount of length added. You can view a history of the asset and the affected data in the InfoViewer.
  4. Click Finish.
The length is added to the ending measurement of the asset and to the measurements of all affected data. History records are added for all affected work orders, inspections, and service requests. Because these records represent historical events rather than asset characteristics, their measurements aren’t adjusted. You can view history data on the History tab of the appropriate InfoViewer.
