Defining dynamic segmentation rules

  1. Initiate an analysis run for an asset group that includes linear assets, and click Next.
The Dynamic Segmentation Information page is displayed.
  2. Specify this information:
    Min Length
Specify the minimum length of each segment.
    Max Length
Specify the maximum length of each segment.
    Unit
Specify the unit of measurement for the segment lengths.
    Rules by Feature
In the grid, specify the features that will be used to segment assets by feature.

You can select a feature type from the Feature Type list, such as Attribute or Element, or you can further limit the features to be used by specifying a feature in the Feature field. For example, if you select Attribute as the feature type, specific attributes might include surface type, roadway class, and width.

    Earliest Condition History Date
If you are segmenting by condition, specify the earliest date of the inspection indexes that you want to use.
    Rules by Condition
In the grid, specify the inspection indexes that will be used to segment assets by condition. A new segment will be created whenever the index value changes.

The tolerance formula is used to determine whether adjacent segments should then be combined for the analysis. For example, you might want to combine segments if the difference in the value of the inspection index is less than one.

  3. When you're finished defining segmentation rules, click Next to continue the analysis run.
