Removing length from a roadway

When you remove length from a roadway, the length removed is subtracted from the measurements of the affected roadway data.

Any roadway data that is located entirely within the section being removed is expired. For example, if you remove 3 miles from a roadway starting 4 miles from the start, a sign that was originally positioned 5 miles from the start falls within the removed length and is expired.

If the removed length falls between the start and end of a range, the length removed is subtracted from the range’s ending measurement. If the length removed includes one end of a range but not the other, the range is truncated.

For example, a Speed Limit attribute starts 12 miles from a roadway’s start and ends 15 miles from the start. Two miles are removed from the roadway starting 14 miles from the start. The range covered by the attribute begins before the removed length, so the attribute isn’t expired. However, the ending measurement falls within the removed section, so the start of the removed length becomes the new ending measurement.

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > Roadway.
  2. On the Roadway tab, under Configuration, click Remove Roadway Length Tool.
  3. Specify this information:
    Roadway
Specify the ID of the roadway from which length is being removed.
    Starting From
Specify the point, measured from the start of the roadway, from which the length is to be removed.
    Remove Length
Specify the amount of length being removed.
    Maintain Roadway History
Select to maintain a record of the roadway structure before the change. A record is added to the RWTOOLHIST (RoadwayToolHistory) table, indicating the original starting and ending measurements of the roadway, the date the length was removed, and the amount of length removed. You can then view a history of the roadway and the affected roadway data in the Roadway InfoViewer.
  4. Click Finish.

Infor Public Sector removes the length from the ending measurement of the roadway and from the measurements of all affected roadway data. As noted in the introduction, any items falling entirely within the removed length are expired.

Infor Public Sector also adds roadway history records for all affected work orders, inspections, and service requests. Because these records represent historical events rather than roadway characteristics, their measurements aren’t adjusted. You can view roadway history data on the Roadway History tab of the appropriate InfoViewer .
