Adding a marking type to a roadway type

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > Roadway.
  2. On the Roadway tab, under Configuration, click Roadway Setup.
  3. In the Roadway Types tree, browse to the Markings node under the correct roadway type.
  4. Right-click the Markings node and select Create Marking Type.
  5. Specify this information:
    Marking Code
Specify an identification code for the new marking type.
    Value Required
Select this check box if you want a value to be required when users add this type of marking to a roadway.

The value of a marking is the data that is recorded for it on a particular roadway. For example, you might require a value for a legend marking to record the specific type of legend, but you might not require a value for a lane marking.

    Attachment Method
    Select an attachment method.

If you select Point, only the Start Distance field is displayed when you attach this type of marking in the Roadway InfoViewer. If you select Range, both the Start Distance and End Distance fields are displayed. If you select Point and Range, both fields are displayed and you can attach the marking on a point or along a range.

    Right of Way Positioning
Indicate whether a right of way position can be specified for the marking type.

A right of way position indicates a marking's location across the width of the roadway, such as Right Lane or Center Divider. If you select No, the Right of Way Position field is not available when you attach this type of marking in the Roadway InfoViewer. If you select Available, the field is displayed. If you select Required, the field is required.

    Detail Page
If you want to track personalized information, or details, for markings of this type, load a detail page.

Click the popup button to the right of the Detail Page field.

    • To use a new page, select Create New Page, click Next, and follow the instructions in the Create Detail Type Page wizard.
    • To use an existing page, select Use Existing Page, select the correct detail page from the Details Pages popup, and click Select.

The Detail Page field shows the detail that you either created or selected. After a page is displayed in this field, you can modify it by clicking the field's popup button again, selecting Edit Existing Page, and clicking Next.

    Validation
If you want to validate the values entered for this marking type, specify the code definition that you want to use.
  6. Click Save.
