Attaching a roadway marking

  1. Load the roadway you want into the Roadway InfoViewer.
  2. In the feature list, right-click anywhere to the right of the marking symbol for the correct marking type, and select Add new item of this type.
The Marking Definition dialog box opens. The fields that in the dialog box depend on your agency's roadway setup and may vary for different marking types.
Note: If the marking type is not in the list, add it by modifying the feature list.
  3. Specify this information:
    Value
Specify an identifying number or name for the marking. This field may only be required for certain marking types. If you specify a value for a marking attached along a range, the value is displayed in the marking's range bar in the feature diagram. If you specify a value for a marking attached at a single point, the value is displayed when you rest your mouse pointer on the marking's point symbol in the feature diagram. If the marking does not have a value, Infor Public Sector assigns the marking the next available identification number and shows that as its value.
    Start Distance
Specify the location or starting measurement of the marking along the roadway. If attaching the marking at a single point, such as a speed limit legend, specify its precise location on the roadway. If attaching the marking along a range, such as a lane line, specify the starting measurement for the range.
    End Distance
If attaching the marking along a range, specify its ending measurement. This field is only displayed for marking types that can be attached along a range.
    Offset
If attaching the marking at a point, specify the marking's distance from the center of the roadway. Use zero as the center of the roadway, negative numbers to denote the distance from the center to the left, and positive numbers to denote the distance from the center to the right. For example, if the marking is 3 feet from the center of the roadway to the left, specify -3.
    Right of Way
If your agency tracks the marking's right of way position, specify the code.
  4. Specify any other information about the marking's location on the roadway.
You can specify the dates that the marking's attachment is effective, add comments about the attachment, or change the units of measure for any distance fields. The units that are initially displayed reflect the top ruler units assigned to the roadway in the Roadway InfoViewer Preferences dialog box, but you can use different units for the current marking. You can also select a distance marker instead of a unit of measure to indicate the marking's location. If your agency tracks additional, personalized information about this type of marking, specify that information in the lower half of the dialog box.
  5. Click Save.
Infor Public Sector adds the marking to the feature diagram in the row to the right of the corresponding marking type. If the marking is attached along a range, a bar is displayed in the feature diagram showing a value that you entered or that Infor Public Sector assigned. If the marking is attached at a specific point, a point symbol is displayed in the feature diagram. You can rest your mouse pointer on the symbol to view the marking's value.
