Attachments

The attachment functionality in Infor Public Sector has been overhauled for this release. First, the old attachment control has been replaced by a grid, making it easier to add and view attachments. The new Attachments grid appears on forms throughout Infor Public Sector.

The way Infor Public Sector manages attachments has also been remodeled. Instead of attachments catalogs, the system now uses EDM (electronic document management) providers to store all attachments. An EDM provider can simply be a directory on your server, or it can be an external system such as Infor Document Management or Microsoft SharePoint.

To add EDM providers, use the new EDM Setup form on the Resources > Attachments menu. This replaces the EDMS Configuration form. If you want to use a directory on your server to store attachments, as with the old attachments catalogs, add an IPS provider.

Because attachments catalogs are no longer used, the Attachments Catalog form has been replaced by a new Attachment Browser. You can use this form to view documents in your IPS providers, and to add and delete attachments. Note that the Attachment Browser only displays attachments in IPS providers. For other types of EDM providers, use the EDM system.

Finally, Infor Public Sector now supports document types for attachments. Most EDM systems use document types to organize documents and track metadata, so you will need the same document types and attributes in Infor Public Sector.

Use the new Document Type Setup form to manage document types. You can create document types in Infor Public Sector to match the ones in your EDM system, or you can import them. A default document type called IPS is included automatically.
