Reading cycles and routes

To record usage readings for your customer's meters, your agency must organize these meters into routes and group the routes into cycles.

A meter route consists of a list of meters, their addresses, and the order in which they're to be read. Each meter in the route is assigned a position number, which helps distinguish between multiple meters at a single address, such as an apartment complex. A residence with a single meter uses position number 1.

Related routes are grouped into cycles. Cycles help your agency organize its routes and may be used to indicate when certain routes are to be read, such as a cycle named Cycle02 for routes that are read on the second day of the month. If your agency uses Infor Public Sector Billing, cycles are tied to bill runs, which indicate when clients are billed for the meter readings within a cycle.
