Adding a usage estimate setup

A usage estimate setup indicates the formulas and selection parameters that are used to estimate readings for meters that can't be read due to such things as malfunctions, restricted access, or poor weather. Estimate setups let your agency calculate accurate estimates so that readings can progress through the review process.

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > Water.
  2. On the Meter tab, under Configuration, click Usage Estimate Setup.
  3. Click Add above the grid.
  4. Type a unique name for the estimate setup in the Estimate ID field.
  5. In the Calculation Order field, enter the order in which Infor Public Sector will apply the estimate setup in relation to other estimate setups when an estimate is requested.
Assigning a calculation order ensures that estimates are applied in the correct order. Infor Public Sector applies the estimates in sequential order until a condition in the estimate setup's condition formula is satisfied. For example, you might want to attempt to first apply a monthly average estimate to all meters requesting an estimated reading. If a meter meets the criteria in the condition formula, such as having three or more previous months of accurate readings, Infor Public Sector uses that estimate setup. If the meter doesn't meet the criteria, Infor Public Sector attempts to apply the next estimate setup in the list. You can enter the same order number for multiple estimate setups if required. Infor Public Sector will process setups with the same order number in alphabetical order.
  6. If you want to limit when Infor Public Sector applies the estimate, enter a formula in the Estimate Condition field.

See Calculating whether to apply a usage estimate.

If you don't specify a condition formula, Infor Public Sector applies the same usage estimate formula to all meters when an estimate is requested.

  7. In the Usage Estimate field, enter a formula to calculate a meter's estimated usage.
  8. Specify any other information about the estimate setup.
Note: You can also enter a description, add comments, or specify the estimate group that the setup belongs to, such as a group for bimonthly estimates.
  9. Click Save.
Infor Public Sector adds the estimate setup to your records and shows it in the Usage Estimates grid according to its calculation order and estimate ID. Infor Public Sector will now apply this estimate setup to any meters that require an estimated reading and that satisfy the setup’s condition formula.
