Recording a code violation for a case

When working with a case, you may notice one or more code violations. You can use the viewer to add violations to the case individually or all at once. When adding multiple violations at once, you can assign them the same information, such as a status code and location details. For example, you may notice an abandoned vehicle and overgrown lot at the site of a zoning violation case. To save time, you can add both violations to the case simultaneously and assign them a status of Unresolved.

  1. Load the case you want in the Case InfoViewer.
  2. On the Code Violations tab, under Code Violations, click Add above the grid.

The Code Violation Lookup Result grid shows all available code violations for this case type, and the Violation Date fields show the current date and time.

To locate a specific violation, you can type search criteria in the fields at the top of the dialog box and click Search. Only the violations that match your search criteria are displayed in the Code Violation Lookup Result grid.

  3. Under Code Violation Lookup Result, select all the code violations that you want to assign to this case.
You can select more than one violation.
  4. Provide any other information about the code violation.
You can change the date the violations were discovered, record their current status and status date, and add comments or additional location information.
  5. Click Save or Save & Close
