Configuring cash drawers

Like the line display, the cash drawer can be added as a child of the POS printer, or as a separate device.

  1. To add an Epson compatible cash drawer, navigate to the corresponding port in the Port tree, if it is a separate device, or to the parent POS printer. Right-click the tree node and select Add New Device.
  2. Select CashDrawer from the Device Class list.
  3. On the next form, select the cash drawer model from the Select Device Name list. Pay close attention to the Select detailed model list, as it usually contains information about which port type the device uses.

After selecting the device model you can specify a logical device name, which Infor Public Sector uses to locate the device. In the Add New LDN field, specify DRAWER, which is the logical name that Infor Public Sector uses.

  4. Next, configure the communication settings. If it is connected to a POS printer, the cash drawer usually must have the same serial baud rate as the printer (19200bps). Refer to the specific device manual for support with the communication settings.
  5. After settings are recorded, click the CheckHealth Interactive button to test the device configuration. Click Start. This should pop open the cash drawer and show a success message when closing.
  6. Some cash drawers have specific device settings that enable them to work to their maximum capacity. Check your device documentation and try different device settings to get a successful test.
  7. Click Finish.
When you click Finish, you may see a registry warning saying that there are potentially conflicting devices on the same port. Epson's hydra drivers can handle the child devices, so click OK. The cash drawer is now configured and should show up in the device tree.
