Importing new inspections

In most cases you will be importing existing inspections that you previously exported, but the import database can also include new inspections that were created outside of Infor Public Sector.

The process of importing new inspections depends on how complete the information in the import database is, and on what records already exist in Infor Public Sector. For example, the new inspections in the import database can become new inspections in Infor Public Sector, but you can also create the inspection records in Infor Public Sector first and then use the import to fill in the details.

If the database that you specify for an import includes new inspections, the import process first tries to identify the correct template to use. If the correct template is found, it is shown in the Template field, which in this case is display-only. Otherwise the Template field is editable and you must select a template from the list.

When you click Load to load the inspections from the database, the import process checks the inspection type and group inspection number of the new inspections. These values are shown in the Inspection Type and Group Inspection fields if found, and if not these fields are editable so you can specify the correct values. The inspection type is required to import inspections, but the group inspection number is not.

The new inspections in the import database are shown on the New Inspections tab, where you can select the inspections that you want to import. The Imported column on the New Inspections tab shows which new inspections in the Access database were previously imported. You can also associate the new inspections in the import database with existing inspection records in Infor Public Sector, or clear those associations so new inspection records are created.
