Splitting a linear asset

  1. Select Asset Management > Assets > [asset module].
  2. On the tab for the correct linear asset type, under Configuration, click Split "Asset" Tool.
  3. Specify this information:
    Split "Asset"
Specify the ID of the asset being split.
    At
Specify the point, measured from the start of the asset, at which the asset is to be split.
    "Asset" Part 1
Specify an asset ID for the first of the two new assets.
    "Asset" Part 2
Specify an ID for the second new asset.
Note: You can use the original asset ID for either of the new assets, or you can specify new IDs for both and expire the original record.
    Maintain "Asset" History
Select this check box if you want to maintain the records of the history of the asset structure. Three records get added to the TOOLHIST (LinearToolHistory) table: one for the original asset, and one for each of the two new assets resulting from the split. Each record includes the starting and ending measurements of the asset, the date the original asset was split, and a description of the change. You can view a history of each asset and the affected data in the InfoViewer.
  4. Click Finish.
Infor Public Sector splits the asset. All data before the location of the split, measured from the start of the asset, will be attached to the first of the two new assets. The location of the split becomes the start of the second new asset, with all data beyond that point attached to this second asset at a position measured from the new start. If the location of the split is between the start and end of a range, Infor Public Sector will divide the range between the two new assets.
Infor Public Sector also adds history records for all affected work orders, inspections, and service requests. Because these records represent historical events rather than asset characteristics, their measurements aren’t adjusted.
