Document types

Every file that you attach in Infor Public Sector will be assigned a document type. Document types represent the various different kinds of documents that are managed by an EDM system, such as building plans, invoices, or photographs of code violations. You must define document types in Infor Public Sector to match the document types in your EDM system.
Note: Document types are not the same as file formats, such as PDF or PNG.

You can add document types in Infor Public Sector directly, or you can import them from your EDM system. A default document type called IPS is provided out of the box. You can use this for EDM providers that don't support document types, such as IPS providers.

A document type can also include a set of attributes, which represent the metadata for documents of that type. For example, document type attributes might include dates, identification numbers, or information about the user who added or updated a document. If attributes are defined for a document type that you import from the EDM system, you can import them along with the document type.

After you define document types, you must associate them with EDM providers, indicating which providers manage which types of documents. You can use either Document Type Setup or EDM Setup to associate document types with providers.
