Assets and Work Orders

Asset Management and Work Management are highly integrated, so it is important to understand the relationship between the asset licenses and the Work Management license.

The general rule is that any action that changes asset information requires a license for the appropriate asset module. By itself, creating a work order for an asset doesn't affect the asset record, so the asset license isn't required. However, updating the work order may involve changing or adding to the asset information, such as entering a usage reading or recording resource costs. In these cases the asset license is required.

For example, an Asset Plant license isn't required to create a work order for an equipment unit, but it is required to update the equipment's total usage from the work order.
