Adding a SharePoint provider

  1. Select Resources > Attachments > EDM Setup.
  2. Click Add above the EDM Providers grid.
  3. Specify this information:
    Display Name
Specify a display name for this provider.
    Reference ID
Specify a reference ID for the provider. This is an internal identifier for the provider, so it can be anything you choose.
    Provider Type
    Select SharePoint.
    Default Document Type
Specify the default document type for the provider. The default document type will be used for all attachments added to this provider, unless the user manually selects a different document type.
    Ensure Unique File Name
Indicates whether file names within this provider must be unique.

If the file name already exists in SharePoint, the provider will try to upload it again using a different file name. The number of attempts is defined using the Upload Unique Filename Retry Attempts attribute in the DocumentProviders configuration.

    Load automatically
Select this check box if you want attachments from the provider to load automatically when an Attachments grid is displayed. Otherwise users must click Inquire to load attachments.
    Is SharePoint Online?
Indicates whether the SharePoint connection is SharePoint Online or SharePoint Server 2013.
    Url
Specify the URL of the SharePoint site.
    Authentication Type
Select the type of authentication that you want to use for the SharePoint site.
  4. Enter the authentication information for SharePoint.
If you are not using OAuth 2 for authentication, specify the authentication in these fields:
    User Name
If you are not using OAuth2 authentication, specify a user name for the SharePoint site.
    Password
If you are not using OAuth2 authentication, specify the password for the SharePoint user name.

If you are using OAuth 2 authentication for SharePoint online, specify this information:

    Enable OAuth2
Select this check box to use OAuth2 authentication for SharePoint Online.

OAuth2 is not currently required, but is recommended for improved security. Microsoft has deprecated basic authentication for SharePoint Online, so OAuth2 will be required in the future.

To use OAuth2 you must set up an Azure Active Directory (AAD) tenant that authorizes access to SharePoint.

    See AAD app registration.

    Client ID
If you are using OAuth 2 authentication, specify the application (client) ID of the AAD tenant.
    Tenant ID
If you are using OAuth 2 authentication, specify the directory (tenant) ID of the AAD tenant.
  5. Add the document types that are managed by this provider.
  6. Click Save.
  7. Set up access control for the provider and the associated document types.
